Politics, Ethics and Technology: What’s fair game?
Ethical issues frequently abound in the political realm. Now, in an increasingly digital world, the use (and abuse) of technology in politics is creating a whole new set of ethical issues and concerns. How are the ethics of social media in particular changing our political landscape? Given the cacophony of political voices and viewpoints, from the professional pundit to the pajama journalist, what are today’s standards of fair play? John Lapinski, Associate Professor of Political Science and member of NBC News’ Election Unit, will lead this panel discussion featuring prominent thought-leaders in the political arena. Panelists include: Michael Maslansky, C’92, CEO of maslansky luntz + partners, a corporate and public affairs market research firm; Jesse Salazar, C’05, Director of Government Relations for the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and Cenk Uygur, W’92, host and co-founder of the progressive Internet and talk radio show The Young Turks.
